ABOUT US

We are a small organisation dedicated to helping the wonderful sphynx breed! Hairless pets can have requirements and problems that are as unique as their looks - our focus is on catering to these needs and providing care, support and assistance to cats and their owners to make sure every sphynx cat is happy, healthy and loved!

Our main base of operations is Melbourne, Victoria - but we have a network of wonderful foster carers throughout Australia and no cat is too far away for our assistance.

Introducing Wiggle! This sweet 10 year old man came into care recently, he is a bit deaf and was quite underweight even though he is constantly ravenous and food obsessed. Alongside some other textbook symptoms we thought it might be a case of hyperthyroidism or even diabetes, alas blood tests proved otherwise. Wiggle is now a bit of a medical mystery? We are planning to have an abdominal ultrasound done to see if we can find any cancers or other things that may explain his symptoms, but in the meantime he is getting to enjoy all the kitten food he wants as we try to fatten him up 🩷

Introducing Maui! This little girl has been with us for a couple months now but we haven't had a chance to share her with you yet 🩷

Maui is a sweet 4 year old elf girl. Unfortunately in her previous home she was peeing in places she shouldn't and despite their best efforts her owners were unable to solve the problem for her. We think it was likely due to stress as she lived with another cat she sometimes clashed with and children (who she did love, but sometimes this can also be a lot for a cat and they can still act out). We are pleased to say she hasn't had an accident whilst in care with us and is doing really well.

Maui had a general health check up at @melbcatvets today and is in good health, she will be looking for a foster or forever home soon!

Please note our website is not currently up to date as the site editor we use has changed and we have to relearn how it all works 😅 Maui will be on there soon!

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and patience with us - we are a very small team of volunteers doing this in our spare time, alongside our full time jobs and other commitments. We are also mostly self funded other than adoption fees and occasional (very appreciated) donations, so we work very hard to be able to provide everything we need for the kitties in our care.

We have had a very busy couple of months both with the cats and our personal lives, so have not been posting on social media or replying to non-urgent enquiries. We are currently working through the backlog of messages, emails and adoption applications and hope to get back to everyone shortly. If you have made an urgent enquiry that you believe might have been missed please reach out again and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Introducing BamBam! This pretty boy came into care this weekend and is booked in for desexing next week.

He is already proving to be a big sweetheart and will be looking for a new home once his hormones have settled down 🩷

It took us a little bit of time to get things in order, but Baldrick is officially listed on our website as available for adoption!

Baldrick is a very petite little guy, but don't let it fool you he is actually turning 8 this year. He is generally healthy, though has previously suffered from colitis and is eating a special prescription diet to avoid flare ups. He does not like other cats/pets and is looking for a home where he will be the only pet and spoilt accordingly. He also will take a little bit of time to come out of his shell but is super affectionate once he is settled.

Sassy girl Wasabi is perplexed at how few applications she's received! How can you resist her?

Applications for Wasabi (and her friend Stitch) are still open, but we are in the process of reading and sorting through the ones we have received so far - thank you as always for your patience!

Baldrick had his check up at @melbcatvets this week & should be listed as available online soon.

Introducing Baldrick! This little man has been very well loved and looked after but was living in a multi cat household - unfortunately he is not a fan of other cats. His owners did their best to try and create a harmonious household for all the kitties, but unfortunately nothing worked so they have made the difficult decision to find him a new home where he can be king of the house without the stress of other cats.

We will be taking him to the vet for a general health check (though we have no concerns) and pending the results of his appointment he should be listed as available very soon!

This is Remus! Whilst he isn't actually a Sphynx, he is a little weirdo and we love him all the same. He spent the day with @melbcatvets for a dental procedure and is now snuggling on the couch with us as he recovers ❤️

This little lady is slowly coming out of her shell. It is funny to say but she is more cat like than your average Sphynx - affection on her terms only, doesn't like being approached or picked up but will come to us when she actually feels like a pat. She has made a lot of progress since she first joined us, she used to hiss if we dared to go near her 😂

Introducing Stitch (blue boy) and Wasabi (white girl) who have had a big day of travelling to our HQ.

We will give them time to settle in and get comfortable then they will go to see our vets for thorough health checks and vaccinations when that becomes possible.

All going well once they are up to date on their vaccinations/receive any other care they potentially need, they will be looking for their new forever home.

We are officially taking applications for our sweet hairy hairless girl Odyssey!

Importantly: she is overdue for her yearly vaccination but due to a worldwide shortage of vaccines we have been unable to get her vaccinated and she is on a waitlist for when there is stock (last we heard was possibly in February?). She was last vaccinated in 2022 and would still have a level of immunity/is not considered high risk so we thought we would open up applications and either send her home once she gets vaccinated or make sure her new owners are able to take her in as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Thank you so much for all of your interest - you are all so wonderful ❤️ We passed on every message we received to Fitz & Toby's current owner and she has just reached out to say they have been placed in a lovely home. Thanks again to everyone who offered to help!

SEEKING LONG TERM FOSTER CARER (potential to adopt for the right home/if they settle in well and it is in the cats best interest)

We have been contacted by the owner of these two boys Toby (5 years old, white nose) and Fitz (4 years old, black nose) as they are moving overseas and cannot take the boys with them initially, and the carer they originally had planned has fallen through. They are now urgently looking for someone to care for the cats as they leave on January 18th. They are looking for a home able to help care for Toby and Fitz until they are on their feet in their new country (could be 12 months +) and then could arrange for the boys to be flown over to join them. Alternatively, for the right home and if the boys settle in well it could potentially be a permanent rehoming.

The cats are fine around children, but have not met dogs or other cats - would definitely need a slow introduction and patience. Toby is healthy and has no known health issues Fitz has some tummy problems so is on Hills ID veterinary diet, he also has chronic rhinitis which can mean he is sneezy at times - this seems to be triggered by foods as well. Fitz can't really tolerate foods other than the veterinary diet without causing tummy upset, but has a huge appetite and will get into anything that is left out!

They are currently located in Brisbane but could travel for the right home.

Johnson looking elegant as ever!

This sweet boy is still looking for the perfect home ❤️

Our fave curly girl Odyssey has settled in wonderfully! She is such a confident and relaxed little lady and has made friends with most of our other animal residents.

Her visit to the vet also went well, other than being a little on the chonky side there was nothing of concern. She has previously had stress related urinary issues and is on a special diet for this, we have kept her on it to be safe but there is potential that she could be transitioned onto another food in future if she stays well. She is also slightly overdue for her yearly vaccine, and whilst this should not effect her immunity and put her at risk we would still prefer her to be up to date before she goes to a new home. There is a current worldwide shortage of cat vaccines though, so we have placed her on a waitlist 🤞

We hope to start accepting applications for her soon, so please keep an eye out for updates 😊

We have a very special little lady to introduce to you! This is Odyssey the hairy hairless cat 😹 She is a Sphynx but some recessive genes decided to make themselves known by way of her long, wavy coat.

Odyssey came into care this week and is settling in really well. We will be taking her for a general vet check up and all going well she will be looking for a new home soon ❤️

We are back from our break & the kitties are unimpressed we went on a holiday without them 😂 Some excellent stink eye from Gucci and Orion here.

Applications for Gucci, Orion & Johnson are still open on our website so if you wanted to apply and haven't yet, you still have a chance! We will be reading through and shortlisting applicants to organise meet and greets in the next week or so.

Missy Ling is a 7 year old Torbie Sphynx (born April 2016) and comes from a registered breeder with her papers. She is desexed.

She has the sweetest personality and will love anyone who gives her attention, but she isn't a fan of children. She seems fine around dogs but hasn't been around other cats. My brothers border collie follows us around the yard and licks her, Missy just ignores him. She will wear a harness and loves going for walks.

Missy likes to snuggle on the couch and sleeps under the covers with me.

She has no medical conditions and loves her food, a mix of wet and dry.

I'm so sad to rehome her, but life had taken a turn I wasn't expecting, and she deserves to have love and attention.

We are pleased to say that he did very well at his check up and vaccination today, he was so smoochy it was hard to get him to sit still! Johnson is in good health and should be listed as available online soon.

Blue eyed beauties Orion and Gucci are now taking applications!

Orion had been ready to go for a while but he is such a sweetie that we have considered keeping him and that is why he hasn't been listed as available until now.

Gucci has had a dental completed at our vets today and is doing really well, we expect her to be ready for a new home in the next couple weeks so we have opened applications for her as well!
